    I tried the demo and it was quite easy to work with. I want to use Machform to set up a clinic form for me to use when examining eyes. I have tried off the shelf packages for this and they don't meet my needs, so having the power to make my own form is great.

    I want to make an eye exam form for my use. I would open a blank form on my clinic PC when I am doing an eye exam, and populate this form with exam data. I want to save the completed form to my server hard drive. I have no need to publish the form to a web site as this opens up a HIPPA (patient privacy) can of worms.

    Can I make a clinic form, save it to my server hard drive, recall it when needed by searching for a name, and avoid using a web site in this application of your software?

    Machform is a *web* application so it needs to run on a web site - it can't be used locally as you're asking.

    You could set it up on an Intranet with PHP and MySQL and run it that way - an Intranet is just a local, private version of the Internet, accessible within a company or organisation. Setting up the intranet would be best handled by your I.T. personnel or I.T. contractor/consultant.

    Perhaps something simpler, like an MS Access database would be better if all you're after is a way to store patient records and test results; I'm surprised a "medical" type Windows application doesn't exist for your purposes. I wonder what other opticians/ophthalmologists(I think that's the term for "eye-doctor" (?)) use in their clinics?

    AMurray,

    I did successfully installed a copy of MACHFORM on my local intel iMac running MAMP PRO and it was okay.
    In the Eyedocs scenario, will it not also be possible to run it on his windows machine using the WAMPServer..?
    which is basically " Apache, MySQL, PHP on Windows " ; [ http://www.wampserver.com/en/ ]
    and bypass setting up an intranet which might not be a necessity...??

    I am setting up such a system for a friend who is using an Apple Mac in his practice.

    So I guess the Eyedoc can also do same even though it might need more tweaking on the windows side.
