well, i have set up the database fine and ran the config.php fine and get all green checkmarks NOW. but when i run the index.php i only get a blank screen on firefox. on IE i get a 500 error.
i dont know how to continue on from here.

It might be a permission problem, try to set your machform folder permission to "755" recursively to it's child and set machform "data" folder to "777"
