Accepting Credit Card Information

    Hi-

    A client of mine would like to create their own forms for their site, and this tool will be perfect for them.

    One question though...one form they would like to create is one to accept donations. They'd like to create the form to accept the credit card info, and simply mail the information to them for offline processing at their office. They don't need it routed to a payment gateway.

    Can MachForm be configured to send this information to the client securely? Is SSL all that is required, or is there more to it?

    Ok, first you'll need to put MachForm into secure connection (HTTPS), so your clients could submit their credit card info securely.

    Second, you'll need to use secure SMTP. Your mail server should be able to use SSL connection. So that the email transmit through secure connection too.

    Then you will need to configure MachForm to use secure SMTP. I'll help you with this.

    Let me know if you have more questions.

    PS. If you are using Gmail or Google App, they provide secure SMTP already.

    Thanks, Yuniar. That's good news! I'll let the client know about this option, and if they decide to purchase the application, I'll write you offline so that you can help me configure machform properly.

    Yuniar is it possible to add some steps to your post above? I would like to do this for my self but have never done this before...no rush!!! This is just a nice to have.

    Which part of my post are you having difficulty?

    The first step, setting up SSL, your hosting company should be able to assist you with this one. Since this one is pretty complex.

    The second step, you will only need to modify your config.php file. Search for the SMTP configurations there and put your secure SMTP server detail there.

    What happens in the Email if it has Credit Card info. does it provide a link and you pull the credit card info from the database. It does not sound real secure if you can pull credit card info right from the email. Please help cause I really want to be able to accept credit cards with this...

    No it is not really secure, even if the email is secured.
    They should come up with a feature to let us use the form to collect credit card information.

    gulli1 is correct.

    The email by default will contain all your form data.
    If you are collecting CC#, I strongly suggest not to include the CC# within the email.

    Modify the email template and make sure to hide the CC#.
    Then if you need to get the CC#, simply login to your MachForm admin panel using HTTPS connection. You should be able to view the details there.
